Turkish artist Baris Barlas started to learn photography in early ages when he was in junior high school with photography lessons. He then attended `Basic Photography Course` in IFOD (Izmir Photographic Art Club) where is still a member of. He has his college degree also in Photograhy and gradudated from Çanakkale 18 March University, Çanakkale Vocational School Department of Photography at 1997.
After the college he worked as a photographer; business and photography manager in various hotels and businesses in Turkey, New York, Bali-Indonesia, Cancun-Mexico, Punta Cana-Dominican Republic and Sharm El Sheik-Egypt. He also kept working on his personal art projects as he continued working. He did some fashion, product, wedding and tourism photography but mainly he works on modeling portfolios, fashion and sport photography as he continues his own art projects. He is also a photography tutor.
He is the member of IFOD (Izmir Photographic Art Club), Siller Art Palace and former member of Turkish Triathlon Federation Media Board.
He is honored with the title of AFIAP (Artistè FIAP) for the success it achieved in international competitions by the International Photographic Federation (FIAP) and for maintaining it consistently at 2012.
He is honored with the title of HonFTGM for his continuous success in the competitions organized by Fotogram Art Studio in Serbia at 2015.
He is honored with the title of SSS / B for contribution to Turkish photography by Sille Art Palace in 2015.
He is honored with the title of SSS / R for contribution to Turkish photography by Sille Art Palace in 2017.
He is an award winning artist and he has more than 50 medals and over 500 exhibited works in international competitions in 24 countries.
He has 15 solo exhibitions, 27 presentations and been a part of toons of group exhibitions and presentations.
He is a censored artist who has faced censorship several times. He has been a part of “Irrerevent : A Celebration of Censorship” exhibition curated by Jennifer Tyburczy in Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbien Art in New York at 2015. He participated a panel in the museum based on censorship with several artists and had an essay published based on his censorship stories called “The Fear of Being Censored”.
He usually prefers long term art projects and he mainly known by his male model and sport works in Turkey.
